If you want to sell something, you quickly end up on big marketplaces with fees and their rules, or with shop systems that do far more than you will ever need. PlaCeMS takes a different route: Shop and Cart are two modules that fit straight into your website. Your products, your site, your customers.
Physical and Digital Products
The Shop handles both: things that get shipped and files that get downloaded – such as e-books, templates or music. Every product gets photos, a description and a price. Prices are shown gross, with the matching VAT rate stated per product.
Real Stock Tracking
For physical products, the Shop keeps real stock levels. What is sold is sold – and won't accidentally be offered twice.
Digital Files Stay Protected
Product photos are public; the actual files of digital products are not. They stay protected until they have been bought. That way your e-book doesn't simply end up on the web via a link.
The Cart: Small but Secure
The Cart appears as a small icon on every page and opens as an overlay, without visitors leaving the page. Behind the scenes, it is strict: with every change, the server re-checks prices and stock. The browser only stores the product and quantity, never prices. Anyone trying to tamper with the cart won't get far.
Pay the Way Your Customers Want
Payment runs through the Payment module. PayPal and Stripe are already set up, and further payment providers can be connected as separate gateways without changing anything in the Shop. Credentials for the providers are stored encrypted.
Shop or Downloads?
For a product range with a cart, stock levels and several products, the Shop is the right choice. If you only want to offer individual files – free, paid or for a donation – the Downloads module is often enough.
Technology Yes, Legal Advice No
The Shop takes care of the technology. What it can't replace: depending on where you sell, you will also need terms and conditions, cancellation and returns information, and details on shipping and delivery times. It's worth getting advice once before your first sale goes out.
